These images are taken after my healing journey had already begun.
The first 8 years where it was extremely intense,
unfortunately I do not have record of.

I’m writing this guide with the aim of offering support and healing to even one individual who, like me, has struggled with skin issues caused by sun exposure and found conventional treatments ineffective. Having found a remedy for this condition, I am eager to share it with those who may benefit. I'd like to share a bit about my background and how I achieved what many doctors considered impossible. This guide has one simple purpose: to demonstrate to others that there is hope and a pathway to healing. Naturally. Permanently. As a medical aesthetician, my training centered around the use of both generic and medical-grade skincare products. Face cleansers, soaps, moisturizers, and all the mainstream products we hear about were all I knew. I was also encouraged to perform invasive peels and treatments, including chemical peels and laser procedures. Why wouldn’t they be? I was in training to be a medical aesthetician after all. The "medical" is baked right into the title. I tried a range of products from well-known high-end brands costing upwards of $150 to drugstore varieties priced as low as $7, never questioning their ingredients or their integrity for my skin. For about 27 years, I followed the same routine as everyone else, never questioning what I was actually applying to my body. It felt like I was constantly searching for the next best thing and never truly satisfied. I was also going through a very stressful time in my life. Trying to discover who I was, dealing with the everyday stresses of a 20-something girl, and abusing my skin barrier all my life, had finally caught up to me. One hot day during the peak of summer, while I was at Canada’s Wonderland, being exposed to the intense UVA and UVB rays of the sun from dawn to sunset, my skin had the most intense reaction. I remember it like it was yesterday. My skin began to itch—or, I should say, burn. The urge to scratch and rip my skin apart was so strong that I immediately left the park and went straight home, blasting the air conditioning in my face for a little relief. I had no idea what had just happened. From that day on, things got worse and worse. Every time I was exposed, even if just for a minute, it would take weeks to calm down. Red, itchy, blistered, inflamed, scaly skin was what I was constantly dealing with. It was spreading, day by day, and I hadn’t the slightest clue what it was or how I was going to fix it. So, for a large part of my 20’s, every summer was spent living in fear and distance from daylight. Finally at an appointment with my family Dr, I was telling him my symptoms and he said this is called “solar dermatitis.” I couldn’t tell you how happy I was to hear a name, a diagnosis, a starting point to my healing journey. From there I waited 6 months at a time and went to different dermatologists, some who had never heard of it and one last one that told me many of her patients live in the dark and only go out at night or wear uva/uvb protected clothing. Let’s not forget the steroid creams. It was during this conversation that it hit me; doctors don’t have a solution for this. They don’t have the answers and I’m on my own with this. I wasn’t born with this. Which to me meant, I can fix it! I had to change my perspective. Fast forward to the present time, in 2024, and I come to you, healed and whole. I am writing this guide to help anyone and everyone who needs the guidance I didn’t have. Through years of trial and error I finally found a solution to a problem that many of us silently suffer from. Below, I have written in detail with lots of love all the changes I made in my lifestyle, mindset, and daily self-care to heal my dis-ease. I hope it is helpful to you and changes your life for the better. Please email me with your healing journeys, I cannot wait to be a part of them. Happy Healing to all you wonderful humans. Looking forward, Neha Sharda

What is a Sun Allergy?

Solar dermatitis, also known as solar urticaria or photodermatitis,

is a skin condition characterized by an abnormal reaction to sunlight.

It typically manifests as an inflammatory response that can occur after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun or artificial sources, such as tanning beds.

Do YOU have a sun allergy?

First things first, there are a few different types of dis-eases that fall under the umbrella of sun allergy the main difference is that all of us have different areas that are affected and different degrees to which we are affected. Solar dermatitis, polymorphous light eruption (PLE), and polymorphic light eruption (PMLE) are all conditions related to skin reactions triggered by exposure to sunlight. There are definitely general symptoms that are common between all. Such as: itching, redness and inflammation however, there are distinct characteristics that separate these dis-eases.

Here are the differences between these three conditions:
